🍁 40th Anniversary β€’ Maine Bound 🍁

Having admired the Green Bay Packers for as long as we can remember, the opportunity to stand on the grounds of Lambeau Field was one we embraced with considerable anticipation. This storied stadium carries within its walls far more than the legacy of a football franchise β€” it is a living monument to American sporting culture, community pride, and the remarkable power of a small city’s enduring devotion to its team.

Lambeau Field is the proud home of the Green Bay Packers of the National Football League, situated in the heart of Green Bay, Wisconsin. The stadium first opened its gates on September 29, 1957, bearing the name City Stadium β€” the second venue in Green Bay to carry that designation. With a seating capacity of approximately 81,441, it ranks among the most iconic and beloved sporting venues in all of American athletics, drawing pilgrims from across the country who come not merely to watch a game, but to experience a piece of living history.

Lambeau Field derives its name from Curly Lambeau β€” the visionary co-founder, original coach, and driving spirit behind the Green Bay Packers, without whom professional football in this city might never have existed at all.

Earl β€œCurly” Lambeau established the team in 1919, going on to both play for and coach the Packers across an extraordinary 31-year tenure (1919–1949), during which he guided the franchise to six NFL championships. It was Lambeau who persuaded the Indian Packing Company to sponsor the fledgling team β€” a partnership that gave birth to the name β€œPackers” itself, a detail of history that lends the franchise an authenticity few professional sports organizations can claim. The stadium was renamed in his enduring honor in 1965, having previously been known simply as City Stadium β€” a fitting tribute to a man who was, in every meaningful sense, the cornerstone upon which the entire organization was built.
