Montana Bound

Where the Big Sky stretches endless and the open road calls to the wanderer’s soul.

Last year, while traveling through these wide-open territories, we made a decision: we wanted to see more of Montana. And so our plans began in earnest. But anyone who travels by RV knows you don’t simply pack and drive away. The past weeks have been a symphony of preparation—readying our home base, charting our course, making mechanical adjustments to the RV, and acquiring a toad to simplify our travels. These details matter when you’re traveling this way.

Our eldest grandchild marked another birthday while we were preparing to leave—the first milestone we’ll celebrate from afar in eight years. Before we departed, we gathered the family close for one final evening with those we love most, knowing it would be some time before we’d be together again.

Then came the loading—load after load, fitting everything we needed into every available space. We were ruthless about what we kept, shedding what four years of traveling had taught us we’d never use. By the time we finished, we’d packed lighter than ever before, carrying only what truly matters.

As we prepared to leave at first light, our hearts were full of anticipation. We were eager to explore more of this magnificent country. A friend once shared that her great-grandfather called Psalm 91 the Traveler’s Psalm, and we’ve taken those words as our guide and protection for the journey ahead.

Keep watch on these pages for updates from wherever our travels take us. We’re grateful for your company along the way.
