Holmes Creek Campground has earned a cherished place among our most reliable stops — whether we are pausing for a few days with dear friends from Vernon or passing through on our way out of Florida. It will not disappoint. When you go, ask for Carlie — she is exceptional and will ensure you are well looked after.
From there we made our way to Ocean Springs, Mississippi, for a visit with family and friends. An afternoon on the water and a generous spread of fresh Gulf seafood — courtesy of Jake and Jet — reminded us why time with family is among the great privileges of this life on the road.
A brief but meaningful detour brought us to Baton Rouge for an overdue reunion with a longtime friend. Good Cajun food, unhurried conversation, and the kind of evening that restores the spirit. Our campground for the night — Tiger’s Trail RV Resort — offered a welcome surprise: a lazy river. We did what any sensible traveler would do and climbed right in. A fitting close to a perfect day.
After two unhurried days on the Bolivar Peninsula, staying just two blocks from the wide sweep of the Gulf of Mexico with our friend Michael, we felt the rare pleasure of seeing this strip of coast through the eyes of someone who calls it home. He guided us along quiet streets and wind‑salted dunes, then on to the peninsula’s lone store, where we topped off our pantry shelves and watched locals drift in for their own evening provisions. Later, we lingered over an early dinner overlooking the water, savoring fresh Gulf seafood as the light softened and the horizon dissolved into pastel haze. When it was time to move on, we rolled the RV onto the ferry from Bolivar to Galveston, the crossing offering one last, measured look back at the peninsula before we turned toward the next chapter—driving past the very first house we shared as newlyweds, its modest outline stirring a flood of early‑marriage memories that quietly accompanied us down the road.
